As an only comprehensive English journal in agriculture in China, ASC almost covers all the subjects in various agronomy and animal husbandry areas. The headings include: Crop Genetics & Breeding, Germplasm Resources, Molecular Genetics, Tillage & Cultivation, Physiology & Biochemistry, Ecology & Environment, Soil & Fertilization, Irrigation, Horticulture, Storage, Fresh-keeping, Processing, Animal Science, Veterinary Science, Resource Insect, Review, Monograph and Research Notes.
Agricultural Sciences in China published initially in January, 2002. About 40% comes from the contributions home and abroad, another 60% articles are selected and translated from its Chinese version Scientia Agricultura Sinica (SAS), which is another official publication in Chinese of CAAS. SAS has been awarded the first-class prizes of the National Journal Prize in 1999-2004 in China, and gained national funds provided by the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC). The impact factor of Scientia Agricultura Sinica is continuously at the top of all the agricultural journals from 1997 to 2006 in China.
The newly-born ASC has made a great progress since its starting in 2002. The foundation article percentage of ASC has reached to around 95% in 2005, which is much higher than the average rate of 34% for the Chinese journals (CJCR report). Furthermore, the national-level found, i.e., 863, 973 and National Natural Science Foundation, etc. contributes about 73% to all foundations, indicating majority papers in ASC comes from the researches under the national large-scale programs. In fact, the researches published in ASC have focused on the national key large-scale scientific programs of China from its starting. From time to time, ASC publishes review articles on issues of great importance in science and policy in China. Especially, the top scientists like Dr James A. Birchler, Dr. Yuan-longping, Dr. Gai Junyi have published their research papers in ASC.
On the other hand, ASC has been included by Abstracts Journal, Zoological Record, CABI in the word, and included by almost all the main indexes in China. Since January of 2006, we have cooperated with ELSEVIER and ScienceDirect has been a platform for Agricultural Sciences in China to spread worldwide. |
